Lyla Rye | biography

Lyla Rye is an installation artist based in Toronto who studied architecture at the University of Waterloo, then received her B.F.A. from York University and her M.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute. Her practice uses video and sculptural devices in space to explore the nature of perception. Her work has been exhibited across Canada including at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, The Textile Museum of Canada, The Dunlop Gallery, The Mendel Gallery and The Power Plant. Internationally she has had exhibitions in San Francisco, New York, Paris, Berlin and Adelaide, Australia. Since the beginning of her career, she has been involved in exhibitions in non-gallery sites and with a number of collectives, including Nether Mind, hic and Persona Volare.
